In a first, Abu Hussain al-Hamidawi, the secretary-general of the Iran-allied Kataeb Hezbollah group, released a statement completely rejecting any confiscation of resistance weapons, a popular demand of Iraqis in the last few years. The statement’s release coincided with Kataeb Hezbollah and other armed factions loyal to Iran holding rallies to commemorate the first anniversary of the US assassination of the Iranian commander of the Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani, and the deputy chief of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
